Who’s Who: Architect and Designer Spotlight

The design of a home determines how it looks, feels and functions for the people who live there. Architects, residential designers, interior designers and kitchen designers tap into their experience to create houses that are lovely to look at and a pleasure to live in.

This year’s HOMEARAMA® in Newport, Kentucky, challenged the design pros with something different than the show’s traditional suburban development. Instead, they were provided narrow lots in a setting with an urban edge and sweeping views.

Let’s meet this year’s architects and designers:

Architects and Residential Designers

Bowerman Myers Architects Ltd.

A HOMEARAMA® veteran, Bowerman Myers Architects has designed show homes since the mid ‘80s and has won every award multiple times, including People’s Choice. For this year’s show, the firm paired with Homes by Gerbus to design The Monroe for its future owners. The Cincinnati-based firm was founded by Ken Bowerman in 1983. Denis L. Back & Associates

Founded in 1980 and based in Mount Adams, Denis L. Back & Associates bring their design expertise to several homes in this year’s show: The Acadia, built by Ashford Homes, The Christopher, built by Thomas J. Ackermann Co. and The Clifton, built by Meierjohan Building Group. In these show homes and in every project, Back and his team strive to always be attentive to clients’ wishes and are eager to create good working relationships. To learn more about Denis L. Sabo Design Associates

A full-service residential design firm, Sabo Design Associates was founded by Rodney J. Sabo to provide complete custom home design. A long-time HOMEARAMA® participant and frequent award winner, Sabo Design Associates worked with Ashford Homes on this year’s Monterey home. In addition to new homes, SDA’s staff of associates also provides residential design services for major alterations and additions. Studer Residential Designs, Inc.

Studer Residential Designs was launched in 1971 and since then, the Cold Spring, Kentucky, firm has participated in and won many awards in more than 30 HOMEARAMA® shows. Interior Designers

Designs on Madison

Made up of designers and entrepreneurs who are committed to fulfilling their clients’ needs, Designs on Madison has won multiple awards at almost every HOMEARAMA® event since 2011. This year, Designs on Madison’s designers Jill Koch, Amy Holt and Aubrey Delaet provided their services at The Acadia, The Monroe, The Monterey and The Newport. The firm was founded in 2010 and is located at 1743 Madison Road in East Walnut Hills.

Design To Market

In 2004, Design To Market co-founder Jo Potvin partnered with interior designer Lisa Mellott to launch their professional home staging firm in Cincinnati. The Design To Market team has provided services for several recent HOMEARAMA® home shows and is a go-to resource for local home builders, homeowners and rental property owners. This year, they created the look and feel of The Christopher and The Clifton. Design To Market is located in the Lockland neighborhood of Cincinnati.

Kitchen Designers

KTCHN

Kitchen designer Gerardo Nucete is the guiding force behind The Monroe show home’s kitchen. Ktchn, which is located at 706 York Street in Newport, is synonymous with timeless luxury at the heart of the home. Sims/Lohman Fine Kitchens and Granite

Sims-Lohman is a family-owned distributor of cabinetry and fabricator of granite and quartz countertops founded in 1971. For this year’s show, kitchen design specialists Tracy Blazer, Joe Chapman and Mark Newman worked on The Acadia, The Christopher, The Clifton, The Monterey and The Newport.
